amegensecWe thank our families and friends for praying for Texas! The worse is not over, unfortunately it has only begun as tornadoes touched down over night and catastrophic rain keeps pounding our communities in southern Texas. This weather system is sitting right on top of Houston, Galveston, Victoria, and other cities in that area. Thousands have already been evacuated or rescued from their homes as flood waters and the storm surge threaten. Many people are stranded in their homes or apartments. The rain bands are now beginning to loop around hitting Austin and San Antonio. Tragically, the rain will continue for days.

Pray for Texas! One pastor and family was rescued from flood waters in Dickinson and just heard that residents in nearby areas were cautioned. Houston downtown is reported to be under water and at least one television station is evacuating their building.

We have many members in areas that are already flooded or are under flood warnings. Church services were cancelled today but were conducted via conference call or on the Internet. At this moments members are holding on and all churches are accounted for! Praise God!

The recovery effort is going to be massive. It will be a long time before the rain stops and flood waters recede. Evacuees may be in temporary housing or shelters for weeks or months. When the rain stops and waters recede, Team Texas will go into action to assist and support local agencies in recovery efforts. We will make an assessment and let you know the extent of the damages and how you can help. We want to create a way to help not get in the way of first responders. We also want to be effective and efficient in our response so as not to provide what is not needed.

Please do not empty your closets to help. Our goal is to raise the necessary funds to purchase gift cards so people can purchase what they need for there families. Distribution centers will be established in the Houston and Galveston areas.

Water, baby and personal hygiene products, ice and toiletries will be needed. Remember that these things must be shipped to our distribution churches. We also need funds to clean out the water damage in homes and help students and families to recover.

Pray for Texas now. Pray how you can help in the days and months ahead!

By the Grace of God,
We're Team Texas!
