Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Ecumenical Prayer Service, January 2009

On Monday, January 19, 2009, the Union Bethel A.M.E. Church hosted a community-wide Ecumenical Prayer Service to honor the election of then president-elect Barack Obama, and the birthday of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Worship leaders from diverse houses of worship in the Northwest Baltimore County area were invited to deliver powerful prayers, including call to prayer, and prayers for the world, nation, state, county, community, families and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Presentations included beautiful choral and liturgical dance.  A fellowship dinner followed the Ecumenical Prayer Service.  Although a blanket of snow covered the "highways and byways" that morning, the community responded in overwhelming numbers, and the Union Bethel A.M.E. Sanctuary was overflowing with neighbors and friends.  One body in worship -- in love, peace, unity and joy.

Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.  Psalm 133:1
