Calling all Union Bethel families, friends and neighbors - Friday, September 3, 2010, hosted by Stewards and Trustees
Union Bethel's Love Feast Service is a service dedicated to Christian love and seeks to strengthen the bonds and the spirit of harmony, goodwill, and congeniality, as well as to forgive past disputes and instead love one another. Love Feast is an opportunity to maintain “singleness of heart” through forgiving love which overcomes differences or misunderstandings.
"I'm a part of you, and you're a part of me.
We're both a part of God. God loves you. And, so do I."
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And, the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:46-47, NIV
In the earliest days of the Church, Christians gathered to share meals, putting together their resources so that all might feast at the table and share Communion together. Over time, the celebration of Communion became the community meal. In the 16th century, a group of Christians called Moravians resurrected the practice of sharing food together in worship, sharing a simple meal together with songs and prayers as a reminder of God’s goodness and their fellowship. |
