Pastor Sembly is first and foremost a man of God. He was licensed to preach on March 17, 1971. His father in the ministry was the late Rev. Edgar L. James. His home church is Mt. Olive A.M.E., in Annapolis, Maryland. He is married to Pamela J. Sembly, they have three children and four grandchildren.

Pastor Sembly was appointed to Union Bethel on October 27, 1984 during the Mid-year Conference by Bishop John Hurst Adams. On August 3, 1992 the church moved from 8502 Liberty Road to 8615 Church Lane. Under his leadership the church membership has blossomed from 200 to over 1000 members.

Today the church has over 40 active ministries which serve the church and the community. Through the blessings and graciousness of God we have accomplished much. To God be the Glory !!
