Who Are We?

The We Are Family (WAF) Community Development Corporation (CDC) was founded in November 2003 to increase the church’s ability to serve the community. It is a non-profit organization of the Union Bethel A.M.E. Church of Randallstown, Maryland. WAFCDC offers a creative array of services and opportunities to Randallstown residents to help build a better community.

Since its inception, the Corporation has opened a Child Learning Center (410-922-9012) that offers reading, computer skills, sign language, Spanish and recreation for 2-4 year olds and obtained a grant to provide after school reading enrichment, homework assistance and cultural activities for 3rd through 5th graders. There is also a basketball program and Girl’s Circle program for teens. Future plans for the Corporation include the opening of a before and after school program, nonpublic school (K-12) and an employment and career center to assist with job placement, entrepreneurial skill development, and business establishment. On Friday November 12, 2004, the Corporation sponsored its first annual celebration, a “Randallstown Renaissance Reception” at 9946 Liberty Road, to benefit its outreach programs. The reception featured Barber and Friends jazz group and a silent auction. Donations were $50.00 per ticket. The reception was very successful. In addition to this event, the corporation is collecting empty ink jet cartridges and cell phones for recycling purposes, as a partner in the Green School Project.
